| Born ToSwim ?? Ebenezer Mile Swim 2010. |
The Rotary Club of Haenertsburg is very proud to present the annual Ebenezer Mile Swim, taking place on Sunday 21 March at the Mountain Yacht Club at Ebenezer Dam, Magoebaskloof. The event is sanctioned by Swimming South Africa. The day promises to be great fun for competitors and spectators alike - but as it is a long weekend (Monday 22 March is a public holiday) you are urged to come and make the most of our beautiful area for a couple of days relaxation
This year there are two main events of a mile (1609 metres) and one race of 3000m, which is the qualification event for the SA National "B" championship. The 3000m race starts at 8am. Then at 10am, the race for all females competitors takes place, with three age categories swimming together - under 13 years, 14-30s, and 31 years and older. The final event starts at 11.30 for males - again the three age categories will swim the course together. Cost of entries are R95 on-line, or R120 for other entries (entry forms are being distributed) and entries registered on the day of the Swim
A new feature this year is that race timing will be handled with electronic timing chips worn by the competitors
The dam is over 80% full at this stage, and the water is clear, sparkling and bilharzia free! As always there are medals, cash and product prizes and a super carnival atmosphere - food stalls, bar and more for the whole family. Commemoration T-shirts will be on sale on the day. Prize giving is at 13h00
